Údarás na Gaeltachta is pleased to announce that capital funding of €57,514.86 has been approved to install solar panels at Dingle Business Park. This project is part of the European SAtComm initiative, which aims to significantly improve the building’s energy performance. Údarás na Gaeltachta is a partner in the SAtComm projects, funded via the 2021-27 Interreg Atlantic Area First Call for proposals financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
The project will include the installation of solar panels, a battery system, and an energy monitoring system, enabling the Park to effectively generate and store renewable energy. New EU Directives have been implemented which place the energy citizen at the centre of the Clean Energy transition, and each jurisdiction is transposing these into law to suit their energy markets. SAtComm will deploy 5 pilots – one of which is in Dingle, Co. Kerry, Ireland – in the 4 AA jurisdictions to suit the regulation of each respective country, while designing the Energy Management Systems to be flexible to meet the requirements of each.
In recent years, Údarás na Gaeltachta has actively participated in several European Union part-funded energy initiatives. These are focused on reducing energy usage and increasing renewable energy generation to lower greenhouse gas emissions.
“This strategic investment in green energy significantly enhances the competitiveness of an Daingin Business Park. The solar panels and energy storage system will reduce the park’s operating costs, enabling businesses located here to gain a competitive advantage in the market,” said Dónal Ó Liatháin, Area Manager, Údarás na Gaeltachta.
This investment is another important step toward a more sustainable future for Daingin Business Park and demonstrates the Údarás’s continuing commitment to green energy and sustainability in Gaeltacht areas.
