A successful Operations and Steering group meeting, hosted by ICS-UL, was held recently in Lisbon on the 4th and 5th of June 2024. All partners contributed and progress over the first 6 months of the project was outlined.
Significant developments have been made with the early Work Packages and in particular WP01 Regulation and Social Aspects for Energy Communities. The team are completing a Literature Review of the technical, regulatory and social science aspects of energy communities in all 4 jurisdictions. In parallel, the design of the 5 Pilot sites is well advanced which is paving the way for the Design & Frameworks in WP2.
“It was great to review progress of the work packages with the team in Lisbon and see the enthusiasm of all partners in advancing the objectives of the project. The building blocks are in place for successful development and implementation phases to come,” said Sean Lyons, Project Co-ordinator, Walton Institute.
During their time in Lisbon, the group also paid a very interesting visit to a new local Energy Community ‘Comunidade de Energia Renovável de Telheiras’ who have recently installed solar panels and are sharing the energy within the community.
